If you are not a Faculty member, a copy of your submitted work request will simultaneously be sent to your supervisor via e-mail for his/her information.
After submission, the request is queued in the MCPF database. MCPF staff will read the request and decide whether it can be accepted. You will receive an e-mail acknowledgement from mcpf @ ust.hk, advising for the acceptance or reason of rejection.
Please read the e-mail, it contains important information.

If you are authorized to independently use MCPF equipment, you can then book time slots for the instrument(s) you are qualified for via the MCPF web page. For booking, you must have a current work request for the instrument(s) you want to book.
Please login to the system and select "Book Equipment", a list of your current jobs will be displayed. Select the job and book the time slots you desire.
In case you are authorized BUT cannot book the equipment, then our database has not been updated. Please send an email to mcpf @ ust.hk requesting the instrument you wish to book or directly contact the Project coordinator/Project member of your work request.
After a work or training request is completed by MCPF, an E-mail will automatically be sent to the user and his/her supervisor, informing the total equipment time, operator time and consumables spent on the job and the total charges where applicable.
If you forget your login password, please press "password" on the MCPF web page and request the system to send your password to your e-mail account. You'll receive it in a few seconds.
Due to safety concerns, MCPF cannot accept work requests directly from UG students. However, in order to accommodate multiple requests from Faculty members, if a UG student must work in MCPF, then the work request should be submitted by a PG or research staff who will accompany the UG at all times while the UG is in MCPF. It is understood that the PG/research staff will be responsible for the safety of the UG student while in MCPF.
If a problem occurs with the work request system, please contact: mcpf @ ust.hk.
Users outside HKUST are also welcome to use MCPF services. When such services are needed, please download a MCPF work request form in PDF format and return the duly filled form back to MCPF by fax at (852) 2358 2451 or by e-mail to email@example.com. MCPF staff will contact the user to arrange time for discussion and experiment.
After a work request is completed, MCPF will inform our HKUST RandD Corporation Ltd and they will send an invoice to the user. The user can pay the services by cheque made payable to "HKUST RandD Corporation Ltd" according to the payment instructions given in the invoice.
